SUICIDE RESEARCH & PREVENTION INITIATIVE (SURPIN) 2025 CONFERENCE
Suicide is real, and the crude rate in Nigeria is 6.89/100,000 population, yet many people shy away from it. The socio-economic implications of depression and suicide are highly significant, especially in developing countries.
To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, SURPIN will hold a hybrid national conference on Saturday, 27th September 2025, with the theme “Changing the Narrative” as its main focus. The sub-theme is “Defying the odds: Mental Resilience Amidst Socio-economic Challenges.”
This year, SURPIN continues to engage young people in conversations around mental health, featuring a panel of secondary and tertiary institution students as panel members discussing the sub-theme. It promises to be highly enlightening.
